Where can you eat delicious food in Heilbronn? I get this question again and again from readers of the blog. Therefore, I have summarised my favourite places for delicious food here. First, there are general tips for eating out in Heilbronn. In the next section, you'll find my recommendations for Swabian food. Because that is really typical for here.
In Heilbronn there is something for everyone. It doesn't matter whether it's Swabian home cooking, the cosy Besenwirtschaften or upscale cuisine. Even for vegans there are now good locations in Heilbronn.

Charivari
My absolute favourite location is Charivari. Everything is just right here: the food is great, the weekly menu changes and above all, one thing is priceless: the service and the really lovely and nice team. Amine is a wonderful boss and the food (tip and all-time favourite: OH Yes! salad) is brilliant.
No matter what you order, you'll love it. Pizza, pasta, salads, steak, Maultaschen, soup, ... Really everyone will be happy here! Whether vegan or vegetarian: the menu is large and everyone will be satisfied here.

Pier 58, Flammerie on the Neckar
Pier58 - Flammkuchen deluxe! A very special place is Pier 58. Simon and his team serve you delicious tarte flambée and in winter also the best fondue in town! Very warm and a wonderful place on the Neckarmeile, whether summer or winter! Very cosy and great!

Pier 85 in Heilbronn: Flammkuchen Falafelo
Syrian refugees thought they could make a passion out of necessity. They had no idea how popular their small but delicious falafelo would be. The best falafel bowls and wraps are only available here! Not for lingering long, but ideal for a short sightseeing break or takeaway food to eat along the Neckar.

Syrian food at Falafelo in Heilbronn Tenno Sushi Lounge
By far the best sushi is served by Thomas at the Tenno Sushi Lounge. The ex-ice hockey pro became a sushi master after his active career and will soon be offering ramen, wagyu steaks and more! I'm looking forward to it. The sushi is super fresh and delicious. Of course, it comes at a price, but that's okay, since I only eat fish very rarely now.

Wine tavern Weigand
My insider tip in Heilbronn is called Weinstube Weigand (formerly Weinstube Braun). Actually, this restaurant was once a Swabian Besenwirtschaft. The current owner and his wife with Thai roots serve the best Swabian food in town as well as the best Thai food in Heilbronn. So delicious!
You definitely have to make a reservation here. Space is limited.
For authentic Thai food, I can recommend two other places:
Asia Noi (in summer also with a stand in the Trappensee beer garden, I don't like the restaurant itself any more as the location doesn't suit me. But it's still good for ordering and picking up food)
Pathum Tip - Thai snack bar (perfectly located for students, for me unfortunately a bit out of my normal radius) - Tip: Mango Sticky Rice is always available on Saturday and Sunday!
My Sapa: Vietnamese, very good and authentic (including nice spelling mistakes on the menu)
Swabian and Thai food is available at Weinstube Braun Volksgarten
Since Corona, one of our favourite gastronomic sources has been Volksgarten. The food is great, whether vegetarian or with meat. Good home cooking, Swabian, salads and hamburgers. Menus are offered for special occasions (including Mother's Day). Pretty good!
Tip: During the week, the tax office canteen serves lunch catered by Volksgarten. Reasonably priced and really good.

Nosh't
Vegan food in Heilbronn? There is more and more and since 2022 also with an enrichment: The Nosht. It offers dishes made from 24 ingredients. The most delicious thing in my eyes is the bread roll, which is freshly baked in a stone oven. It comes with falafel, fried aubergine and various dips or salads. So delicious!
Also available as a takeaway "to go".
Definitely try it: Nosh't Plate (combination of everything) and the chickpea salad.
Opening hours: Tuesday: 6pm - 9.30pm, Wednesday to Sunday 11.30am - 9.30pm. The bar is open Thursday - Saturday until midnight.

In summer: Coffee Bay
My absolute favourite place in summer: the "Kaffeebucht" directly on the Neckar. Here you simply feel like you're on holiday. Relaxing is the best thing to do here. They serve delicious tarte flambée, and at weekends they also serve cake.
Next door you can rent a pedal boat or a barbecue donut. The most popular place in summer.

Confessional
When I was still in a permanent position in the city centre, our first port of call, especially for meals with customers. The Confessional offers upscale cuisine and is pretty much the best Heilbronn has to offer. For this, the Confessional was awarded the Bib Gourmand award by the Michelin Guide in 2020.

La Taverna
Pizzerias are a dime a dozen in Heilbronn. You can get really good pizzas in 4 - 5 pizzerias (and especially in kebab shops). La Taverna is an institution, reservations are necessary. The pizza is really good and baked in a stone oven.
VELO - not only for vegans!
For vegans, VELO is a real must. The place is always packed. You can also order and take the food "to go" - my tip. Even friends who always eat meat found the VELO a "treat".
Ratskeller
Right in the heart of Heilbronn
The Ratskeller is an institution in Heilbronn, located directly in the cellar of the town hall on the market square. Here, many people enjoy the best Swabian food in Heilbronn.
I think there is hardly anything nicer than sitting under the arcades on warm summer evenings and enjoying a glass of Heilbronn wine.
This really is one of the most beautiful places Heilbronn has to offer - together with first-class food, it's an unbeatable combination.

Be sure to book in advance by telephone in the evening
By the way, the Ratskeller also offers a daily lunch menu. Two dishes are offered in addition to the menu. At around €9, these are really affordable and worth the money.
Kutuki
If you like to eat fish, then you will find the right thing at the Greek Kutuki. Very tasty, but be sure to book in advance. You'll hardly ever get a seat here on the spur of the moment.
Want to eat pizza?
The best pizza is at La Taverna in winter and at the Italian restaurant in the Trappensee beer garden in summer.

Coffee bay and Neckar boat station next door
In summer you'll meet most people in the Kaffeebucht. Since we have few nice places on the Neckar where there are also restaurants, this is the best place to chill out. There are cakes, tarte flambée and other snacks.
Trappensee Beer Garden
The most beautiful beer garden almost on my doorstep not only offers plenty of seating, but also trampolines and a playground for children. In addition, there is a stand with Thai and Italian food as well as home-style cooking. Everyone will find something delicious to eat here.
Weinvilla Stand at the Neckar Stage
The most beautiful place in the city to linger is the Weinvilla stand. Here you can get delicious regional wines. A great place to linger in summer.

Light and Air Bath Heilbronn
Here you can get (for meat eaters) what is said to be the best onion roast in Heilbronn. Of course, there are also many other classic dishes of Swabian cuisine. A great and idyllic place in the countryside.
Breakfast in Heilbronn
Well, going out for breakfast in Heilbronn is one thing. There are good places, but few of them. The breakfast at Kaffeehaus Hagen is great. Their own coffee is also unique (I also drink it at home). You definitely have to make a reservation here. Unfortunately, the café is a bit out of the centre.
We used to eat at Café Schümli at least once a week. Either at the weekend for breakfast or lunch. Try the "double baguette" with salad. With a highball!
Our "living room" is Hartmans. Breakfast is always on Sunday. I love the Italian breakfast, with a large latte.
Other alternatives are: Wohnzimmer and the Pearls and Diamond right by the train station.

Directly on the Neckarmeile, the queues are long when the weather is nice. No wonder, because Primafila definitely has the best ice cream in Heilbronn. I can recommend all the flavours I've tried so far without exception. Whether in a cone or in a cup. Great ice cream at Primafila!

Hartmans
Very often I am in Hartmans. In summer you can sit outside very nicely. The interior is not the nicest, but we've known the owner for a long time and one of my friends (or several) served here for many years.
I always meet someone here. Already two of my former workplaces were right around the corner and I was a regular guest for the changing lunch table.
Eckstein
Next to the Charivari, the Eckstein has now firmly established itself as a "favourite location". Here you can find delicious wine and Italian food on the menu. My favourite dish here is "white pizza". In winter there are "fondue evenings". My friends are thrilled, I was always in the sun on those dates.
Other great restaurants and shops for good food
Pepper
The Meat House not only has exclusive food for sale, but also always has a lunch special. The seats are in high demand, so you should hit up here before or after the typical lunch rush hours. The food is always special and very delicious.
Coffee first (note: new location)
The best cinnamon buns in Heilbronn are served at Erstmal Kaffee. Also delicious breakfast and coffee. A great place made by very friendly people. (For Heilbronn residents: new location in the old Data).
Samocca Inclusion Café
A special tip is the Samocca Inclusion Caféwhere jobs have been created for people with disabilities (Our tip: bagels and coffee from their own coffee roastery).
SMUK
A new discovery is the SMUK on the former BUGA site at Neckarbogen. Shop with café is how I would describe this establishment. Very nice staff, delicious bowls with falafel to go!
Along the Neckar, the Mara-Haus has recently opened. Here you'll find L'Osteria, Mangold (I like it, others less so), Mosch Mosch (favourite Japanese chain), Burgerheart and the now best ice cream in Heilbronn Primafila.
Those who like burgers are now also spoilt for choice. I'm still a fan of Hans im Glück, others like Bur gerheart. The Volksgarten now also offers burgers. Especially the vegan one is recommended.
