Welcome to Mumbai: great city of contradictions. Rich and poor, old and new and beautiful and ugly are diametrically opposed. History can be found in the beautiful colonial buildings in the south of Mumbai, close to your hotel. You will definitely pass by these during the city tour we arrange for you. Want to see more sides of this city? Then opt for the optional extra excursions, such as a street food tour or a slum tour to the city's largest slum. Whether you visit Mumbai at the beginning or at the end of your trip, it's a vibrant city where you certainly won't get bored.

Day 1 - Arrival in Mumbai

Upon arrival in Mumbai, you will be picked up by our driver and transferred to your hotel in the south of the city. Big cities in India can be quite hectic, so nice to know that your transfer is arranged on arrival. Your hotel is in the Colaba district, within walking distance of the famous Gateway of India and the colourful Colaba market, shops and restaurants.

In the evening, Chowpatty beach is the place to be. This is where many Mumbai residents meet around sunset for a stroll along the waterfront. There is plenty to do in the city after sunset too, for those with energy to spare. Stay at http://www.hotelsintamilnadu.com/en/chennai-hotels-18036/

Day 2 - City tour in Mumbai

Today you will set off with our driver and guide on the half-day city tour of Mumbai. You will be picked up at your hotel and the guide will proudly tell you about 'his city'.

You'll naturally pass by Mumbai's main attraction, the Gateway of India, located next to the prestigious Taj Mahal hotel. You'll pass the finest colonial buildings from the English era, and the charming old railway station. Take a rest at the Hanging Gardens at Malabar Hill, from where you'll have great views over the bay.

The afternoon is at leisure. Tip: take a boat trip to Elephanta island, where you can see beautiful cave temples.

Day 3 - Departure from Mumbai

Time to say goodbye to Mumbai. If you don't fly home until after midnight, you still have all day to see more of the city or buy the last souvenirs. Or plan an extra excursion, like the Street food tour or the Dharavi slum tour. You can read more about these below.

If you want to travel further through India, you could travel north and continue with the Easy going Jaipur building block. Or start your tour of the south with the Easy going Bangalore. Relax at the beach with the Exotic Beaches of Goa building block. More hotels at tophotels.com
